The speaker of the Parliament of Albania, Lindita Nikolla, has sent a message of condolences to the family of the former president of Italy, Giorgio Napolitano, who passed away a day ago. 

In her message, Nikolla states that Napolitano was a great friend of Albania in the EU integration process. 

"In his long political life, as parliamentarian, minister, Speaker of the Chamber of MPs and President of the Republic of Italy, Giorgio Napolitano devotedly served not only his country, but also European aspirations. 

President Napolitano was a great friend of Albania and our European perspective. His is the well-known expression during the speech held in the Assembly in March 2014 where he said that Italy will be Albania's advocate for membership in the European Union. 

Rest in peace, President!" emphasizes Nikola.
