PM Rama Denies 'Dissolution' of Open Balkans

Prime Minister Edi Rama explained during the joint conference with his counterpart in Montenegro, Dritan Abazovic, about the dissolution of the Open Balkans.

Rama stated that Open Balkan is not his private company and emphasized that he only expressed his opinion in the statement made. He further emphasized that the declarations against the Open Balkans have also damaged the Berlin process.

"Open Balkan is not my private company. It is a joint initiative of several countries that I have had the privilege to be a part of. If I were to go back a thousand times, I would open it up and call it the Open Balkans. I have expressed the opinion that the Open Balkans has fulfilled its mission, but I do not imagine that we should all stop the processes started by it.

I have only expressed my opinion for a very simple reason because opposing the Open Balkans with conspiracy theories, such as that it is a Chinese-Russian plan, or saying that the Hungarian Prime Minister is also involved, have not only harmed that initiative but also the Berlin Process and have influenced various countries to cast doubt on an initiative that had a very important virtue.

I have said that when we signed agreements at the last summit in Berlin, we who were part of the Open Balkans made a theatrical signature because we had made those agreements before. We must focus on the Berlin Process in Tirana because we have the historic opportunity to introduce a new financing plan from the EU for the countries of the region, for which we must all strive together. I am in sync with Dritan (Abazovic) when absurd situations like the one that is taking place in the north of Kosovo happen. This is a time when we need to be together", declared Rama.
