Prime Minister Edi Rama commemorated on Thursday the 100th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Albania and the United States of America. 

In social media statement, Rama conveyed his congratulations to those who will be in the square today to celebrate. 

A concert will be organized in "Skënderbej" square this evening, on the occasion of the establishment of diplomatic relations with the USA as well as the opening of negotiations with the European Union. 

"GOOD MORNING and today, on the fixed ???? anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations with the United States of America, I not only wish you a good day, but also a beautiful evening to all those who will be in Skënderbej Square today", wrote PM Rama. 

However, diplomatic relations between the United States of America and Albania were restored on March 15, 1991, after a break of 52 years. 

Initially, diplomatic relations between the two countries were established on July 28, 1922. 

Albania-USA relations begin in the early years of the 20th century, when American President Woodrow Wilson offered the necessary and indispensable support to the new Albanian state, for its recognition.
