Authorities said a further 21 people had been arrested on Sunday in connection with the unrest. Those arrests, combined with Monday’s operations, form part of an ongoing investigation led by the prosecution.
In an official statement, police said officers were attacked in several areas of Tirana with stones, screws, metal spheres, wooden and metal sticks, pyrotechnic devices, Molotov cocktails and gas canisters fitted with firecrackers.
Several police officers were injured during the incidents and received medical treatment, according to authorities.
Police said the suspects range in age from 18 to 54. In addition to those arrested, 13 people are facing criminal proceedings without being taken into custody, while 30 others were initially declared wanted. Ten of those wanted individuals were arrested on Monday, and efforts to locate the remaining suspects are continuing.
