Police Fine 16 Protesters Following Demonstration Outside Prime Minister's Office
Police in Tirana have fined 16 people 5,000 lek each following a protest held yesterday on “Dëshmorët e Kombit” Boulevard, in front of the Prime Minister’s Office.
According to an official police statement, the protesters blocked the road, disrupting vehicle traffic and refusing to clear the street despite repeated warnings issued by police officers through loudspeakers.
Police said the administrative fines were imposed under Normative Act No. 5, dated October 28, 2026, pursuant to Article 24/1, paragraph 2.
Of the 16 fines, 14 were issued to individuals who had been escorted to police stations, while the remaining two were imposed following the identification of the individuals through video footage.
Meanwhile, criminal proceedings have been initiated against two minors suspected of engaging in unlawful activities during the demonstration.
According to police, the two minors allegedly acted in coordination with each other while wearing masks during a student-organized protest on November 2, 2026, along “Dëshmorët e Kombit” Boulevard.
The case has been referred to the Prosecution Office by investigators from Police Station No. 2.
Authorities have not provided further details about the alleged actions of the two minors.
