Premier Involved in Fierce Debate with Democrat MP

Prime Minister Edi Rama and Democrat MP Agron Shehaj have had a fierce debate in parliament.

Shehaj accused Prime Minister Edi Rama of being the one hiding behind the offshore company in the Netherlands, which turns out to be the owner of the Tirana incinerator.

Immediately after this accusation, Prime Minister Rama said that this once again raised the big dilemma of whether the opposition MPs are idiots or are acting like idiots.

Excerpts from the debate:

Shehaj: What is happening today in Albania is that the owner of the Tirana incinerator has been declared wanted by the prosecution, but the government continues to pay him because the mayor of Tirana and Prime Minister Rama are behind the offshore company in the Netherlands.

Rama: Mr. Shehaj, you said that I am hiding behind an offshore company in the Netherlands, on what basis? Thank you.

Shehaj: Mr. Prime Minister, the incinerator of Tirana, the concession was given to Klodian Zoto after his proposal. At first you said that it would not be Zoto but an Italian enterprise, then we found out that it was the same man who had taken over Elbasan and Fier. The same day you signed the contract, you gave it to Zoto, who he transferred to an offshore company in the Netherlands. Then it turned out that the incinerator of Tirana continues to be theoretically under the ownership of an offshore company in the Netherlands. The fact that you give it to a man who is involved in a corrupt affair, not doing any kind of competition, the fact that this gentleman takes it offshore, the fact that you pay him, the Tirana incinerator is owned by a man that is wanted. Why do I say that you are behind the offshore company? Because I created the conviction after seeing what happened to the company D-Albania, which won the tender by cheating, you gave them millions of euros. If you were really deceived by that gentleman, he would not have returned the money, Mr. Prime Minister. So these facts make me believe that you are behind this company.

Rama: Mr. Shehaj, I am always in a dilemma when I listen to you, are you an idiot or are you doing it yourself? You said that I am hiding behind an offshore in the Netherlands and I said is it possible for you to come here and bring the proof for this? This is very serious for me to hide behind an offshore in the Netherlands and you say this it literally means you have proof, and if you have it I must be brought to justice. I invited you to give the test, in everything you said I brought up my dilemma again, are you an idiot or do it yourself. You tell the other person who is in charge of the government, you say that you are hiding behind an offshore company in the Netherlands. It's like me saying you have been declared wanted internationally, but I have to provide evidence for that.
