Meta Expresses Condolences for Death of Ex-Greek President

The President of the Republic, Ilir Meta, has expressed his condolences for the death of former Greek President, Karolos Papoulias. 

Through a message on social media, Meta states that Papoulias has played a historic role in improving relations and strengthening the good neighbourliness between Albania and Greece. He adds that his respect and cordiality towards the Albanian people and Albania will remain unforgettable. 

Message from the President of the Republic Ilir Meta: 

I learned with sadness the death of the former President of the Republic of Greece, Karolos Papoulias. 

Great appreciation for his historic role and valuable contribution in improving the relations and strengthening the good neighbourliness between Albania and Greece, as well as for the constructive spirit and sincere will demonstrated for the restoration of bridges and the spirit of cooperation in all fields between our two peoples. 

For me, the meetings with him and especially his respect and kindness towards the Albanian people and Albania will remain unforgettable. 

Condolences to the family, authorities and the Greek nation for the loss of this great personality, who contributed to the restoration of democracy and the progress of His country.
