President Receives Poland's Foreign Affairs Minister in Meeting

President of the Republic, Ilir Meta has held Tuesday a meeting with Poland's Minister of Foreign Affairs, at the same time OSCE Chairman-in-Office, Zbigniew Rau, accompanied by the Ambassador of Poland to Albania, Monika Zuchniak-Pazdan, and the Head of the OSCE Presence in Albania, Ambassador Vincenzo del Monaco. 

President Meta and Minister Rau exchanged views on co-operation between the two countries in the framework of OSCE, about the most sensitive issues on the Organization's agenda, focusing on the security situation in Europe following the unjustified and unprovoked Russian aggression against Ukraine. 

President of Albania and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Poland confirmed the position of the respective countries in support of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine and that Russian aggression must stop immediately and Russia must withdraw its troops from Ukraine. 

President Meta stated that he fully supports the Polish priorities at the helm of the Organization and that he believes that the OSCE is a key factor for peace and security on the continent and an excellent platform for discussing issues related to comprehensive security. 

The Head of State praised the contribution of the OSCE Presence in Albania to the democratic developments in the country and encouraged its support for the implementation of the required reforms in the country's path towards the EU. 

President Meta also praised the support that Poland has given to the integration processes of Albania and all Western Balkan countries in Euro-Atlantic structures and stressed the need to open as soon as possible the membership negotiations of Albania and North Macedonia with the EU, as well as visa liberalization for the citizens of the Republic of Kosovo. 

The President of Albania and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Poland assessed the bilateral relations as excellent and committed themselves to their further strengthening, in areas such as infrastructure, transport, tourism, agriculture and energy. 

Quite encouraging was considered by both sides the increase of the number of Polish tourists in Albania and the establishment of direct air transport lines between Albania and Poland.
