'Pristina Will Not Accept Creation of Serbian Municipalities' Association'

The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, during the interview with the Bosnian media, reiterated that Pristina will not accept the creation of the association of Serbian municipalities. Kurti insists that Serbia is not ready for a constructive dialogue that would result in a comprehensive agreement.

According to Kurti, an ethnic association would be a "Republika Srpska" within Kosovo, so it is unacceptable.

"Kosovo will not allow a Republika Srpska within it and we know very well that Serbia wants exactly that. Serbia wants its own state within Kosovo. Belgrade's goal is destructive, it wants nothing for the Serbs of Kosovo, it only wants something against us. Serbia, which says that Kosovo is a fake state and wants the Association, is not serious. If it wanted the Association, it would recognize Kosovo first. They want the Association for Kosovo to become non-functional."

The creation of the association is the condition that Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic has set for Pristina, for the return of Serbian officials to state institutions. Prime Minister Kurti also focused on the "Franco-German" proposal, which according to him is a good basis for reaching an agreement next spring.

"There are new elements in that proposal and it is a good basis to continue our talks at a new level. We have to see how the new meetings will go, to know where we are. Spring is a sufficient period to finally normalize relations, if we have the good will."

Official Belgrade, a few days ago, had stated that the final date for the bilateral agreement has not yet been determined by the international community, saying that these were only Kurti's claims.
