The Prosecutor of Tirana Prosecutor's Office, Alket Mersini, was dismissed on Wednesday, after the vetting process.

The decision was taken in the Independent Qualification Commission, after suspicions about the financial sources for his two apartments and a sum of 40.000 euros that a construction company had deposited in the bank account of his wife.

Mersini was one of the prosecutors investigating the damage left behind by the November 26 earthquake in Tirana.

Alket Mersini started his career in the justice system in 1999 and for two decades he worked as a prosecutor in the Prosecution of Durres and Tirana.
