Protesters React to MP Marjana Koçeku’s Exit from Socialist Party, Call for Continued Demonstrations

Protesters in Tirana welcomed the announcement that Member of Parliament Marjana Koçeku has left the Socialist Party, describing the move as a symbolic victory for their ongoing demonstrations.

Speaking during the rally, one protester said the development demonstrated the growing impact of the 15-day protest movement, calling it “one of the pieces of the Socialist Party chessboard falling.” He claimed the resignation signaled momentum for further political change and urged continued presence in the streets.

While acknowledging the MP’s decision to become independent, the protester said it represented only “half of the work,” arguing that full success would come only if political figures joined demonstrators in calling for the resignation of Prime Minister Edi Rama.

He further stated that protesters would remain in the square until their demands were met, adding that the movement would continue “until the Prime Minister is left alone,” using strong rhetoric to emphasize their determination.
