Ruling Socialist Party Condemns Violent Protests in Tirana: Violence Is Not the Answer
Ruling Socialist Party (SP) has condemned the violence during ongoing protests in the capital, Tirana, as government institutions, businesses and infrastructure have been damaged by fires and acts of vandalism.
In an official statement, the Socialist Party called for an end to the violence, warning that Albania has paid a heavy price for chaos in the past.
“VIOLENCE IS NOT THE ANSWER!!
Albania has paid an extraordinarily high price for the consequences of chaos in the past, when institutions were attacked and property was destroyed in the name of anger and revolt.
Anyone who loves their homeland does not destroy Albania!” the party said.
The statement comes amid violent unrest across Tirana, where protesters have targeted government buildings, private businesses and financial institutions. Police have intervened at several locations, using water cannons and tear gas to disperse demonstrators.
The Socialist Party’s reaction places renewed focus on the political response to the unrest, as the damage to public institutions and private property raises concerns over public order and the escalation of tensions in the Albanian capital.
