Russia's human rights commissioner is set to meet her Ukrainian counterpart in Turkey, the TASS news agency reports.

Speaking to reporters, Tatiana Moskalkova said she and Ukraine's human rights ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets would meet at a major conference in the country, which is taking place from 12-14 January.

"I confirm that I'm planning to hold this meeting. There will be a major forum on the territory of Turkey that the Turkish commissioner is organising," she said according to TASS.

"And we have spoken about the potential for a meeting and a tentative agenda."

Mr Lubinets said the "plans are ambitious" and he did not know "how the Russian side would behave".

He added: "However, in advance we receive positive signals that they are ready to consider this issue."
