Serbian President Condemns Shooting that Caused 8 Victims in Belgrade

President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic has condemned this Friday the armed gun attack, which killed at least eight people and injured 14 others in several villages of Mladenovci, in the territory of Belgrade.

In a press conference, President Vucic said that "this is an attack on our entire country and every citizen feels it".

Meanwhile, he mentioned some security measures that the government will undertake including the hiring of 1,200 new police officers and the transfer of 1,000 others to stay near schools.

"In order for parents to feel safe, there will be police and officers almost always in the school, until we reach that level where the police are always in the school. With this, not only will we increase security by 90 percent, but we will also reduce peer violence at school by 80 percent, I believe", said Vu?i?.

According to some local media, the attacker opened fire on people with an automatic weapon after having an argument with a police officer in a park in the village of Dubona.

Three of the injured underwent emergency medical treatment at a local hospital, while the Ministry of Health called on citizens to donate blood.

Regardless, this is the second mass shooting in Serbia this week. On Wednesday, a 13-year-old boy allegedly killed eight students and a security guard at a school in central Belgrade.
