Serbian Tennis Player Excluded from US Open

Serbian tennis player Novak Djokovic, the former number 1 in the world and winner of 21 grand slams, will not play in the US Open tournament, which starts on August 29 in New York. The reason is the non-vaccination of the Serbian tennis player, who cannot travel to America, due to the laws in force.

The news was confirmed by the organizers of the US Open, that on August 25 they will draw the lot of the tournament and Djokovic will not be part of it. Also, the tennis player himself declared on social networks a little while ago that he cannot leave for America, as he is unvaccinated.

For the Serbian, this is the second grand slam this year that he does not play because he refuses to take the vaccine, after the one at the Australian Open (in January). Although he went to Melbourne, he lost his legal battle with the government and was forced to return to his homeland.

"Unfortunately, I cannot travel to New York to play in the US Open. Thanks to all the fans for the support. Good luck my tennis friends. I am fit and mentally positive, waiting for an opportunity to play again. We will see each other soon", writes Djokovic.
