Shkodra Double Murderer Left in Prison after Surrendering
Court of First Instance in Shkodra has imposed a "prison arrest" measure for the citizen Daniel Pepaj, responsible for the double murder of Vilson Cutaj and Klement Pepaj, nearly two years ago in Vrith of Malësi e Madhe.
After more than two years on the run, a few days ago the 27-year-old surrendered to the Shkodra Police.
After his detention, Daniel Pepaj was communicated the reconfirmation of the security measure "prison arrest" given by the court of first instance.
During this session, Daniel Pepaj did not make any statement regarding the murder that happened on October 3, 2020, not wanting to speak at the moment, but he is expected to make statements about the serious event in the following sessions.
Meanwhile, his defense lawyer Arbër Raja also did not make any statement about the double murder, while during the hearing for the reconfirmation of the security measure, he requested that Daniel Pepaj be placed under "house arrest" given that the 27-year-old has surrendered to the Police.
On the other hand, the prosecutor of the case, Albert Murçaj, requested the security measure "Arrest in prison". After listening to the parties, judge Izabela Radovani decided "Prison arrest" for the 27-year-old.
Initially, the two victims Vilson ?utaj and Klement Pepaj were found to be missing, while after searches for some of the residents and police officers, the dead bodies were found near a cannabis plot.
A few days before the serious incident, it was learned that Daniel Pepaj was beaten by the two victims with the claim that he had stolen some cannabis plants.
After being hit, according to suspicions, the 27-year-old took a gun and shot citizens Vilson ?utaj and Klement Pepaj, leaving them dead on the spot.
Earlier, according to the suspicions of the Police, the author asked a resident of the area for a gun, but did not give it to him. After shooting them, it is suspected that Daniel Pepaj called his brother, telling him about the double murder.
Likewise, it is thought that immediately after the incident, Daniel Pepaj left for Montenegro and then returned, hiding in the mountains of the area where he lives until he decided to surrender.
Now, it is expected that the Prosecution will request the punishment and then the Court will give its decision.
