Teen Sentenced 8 Years after Revenging for His Father

Court of Lezha sentenced 17-year-old Florian Përvathi to 8 years in prison, who in January of this year killed his fellow villager Lek Lekgjonaj for blood feud.

The young man was found guilty of the criminal offenses "Murder for blood feud" and "Unauthorized possession of weapons and military ammunition".

Considered a minor, as he is under 18, he was sentenced to 12 years in prison, the maximum provided by the law for age. But due to the shortened trial, the sentence was reduced by 1/3 to 8 years.

The murder took place on January 24, 2022 in Manati, Lezha. The minor waited for the 65-year-old Lek Lekëgjonaj at the door of the house for several hours and immediately appeared after Lekëgjonaj got out of the car and entered the gate, firing 2 bullets at him, which turned out to be fatal.

Aware of the crime committed, the 17-year-old surrendered to the police saying that he had taken his father's blood. In 2009, Florian's father, Gjon Përvathi, was killed by Lekë Lekgjonaj's brother, Ndue Legjonaj.

After the murder, Ndue Lekgjonaj was arrested and served the sentence for murder, having recently been released from prison. He never returned to the village of Manati, fearing revenge from the Përvathi family.

After the death of her husband, Florian's mother, Martine Përvathi, poisoned herself, losing her life. Florian Përvathi was very young when he lost his father and mother, apparently growing up with the sole aim of revenge against the Lekgjonaj tribe, which led to the crime of January 24.
