TIA, Highest Passenger Increase in Europe

Tirana International Airport leads with the highest increase in the number of passengers in the classification for Europe.

The news was announced by Prime Minister Edi Rama, who shared the data published by the International Council of Airports, referring to the second four months of this year.

"Here are the data of the International Council of Airports, where for the second four months of this year, the "Mother Teresa" airport leads with the highest increase in the number of passengers in the classification for Europe," said Rama.

Only in July of this year, 1,191,182 passengers entered from "Mother Teresa" Airport, while in July of 2023, 834,113 passengers.

In the January-July period, 5,982,066 passengers entered through the Tirana International Airport, while in January-July 2023, 3,723,613 passengers entered, so the seven-month period of 2024 recorded 1,113,908 more entries.

Foreign visitors’ arrivals to Albania reached 4.5 million in the first half of 2024, up from 3.4 million in the January-June period of 2023, Rama said earlier.

In June alone, foreign visitors’ arrivals rose 19% year-on-year, to 1.2 million, according to a statement posted by Rama on Facebook.

“We have entered the peak of tourist flows, where together with private operators who present the Albanian offer every day, but also with the extraordinary responsibility of providing quality service,” Rama has said.
