TikTok Banned in Albania for 12 Months

Albania will closes the social network TikTok for 12 months.

The news was made public by the Minister of Education, Ogerta Manastirliu, who said that the Albanian government proposed to ban this network for a 12 months period. 

She confirmed that is negotiating with the representatives of this network to take all measures and impose filters base on the age of the clients and to prevent promotion of the bad behaviour. 

Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama announced earlier, on December 21, that the government will shut down social network TikTok for at least a year starting at the beginning of 2025. During a meeting in Tirana with Albanian teachers, parents and psychologists Rama said that "TikTok is the thug of the neighborhood."

"We are going to chase this thug out of our neighborhood for one year," Rama said. He added that the government will start programs that will "serve the education of students and help parents follow their children's journey."
