Tirana, Blind People Protest for Better Living Conditions

The blind people protested this Saturday in Tirana, demanding the improvement of the infrastructure and the increase of the payment they receive.

On the "White Cane Safety Day", the blind have come to the Boulevard "Dëshmorët e Kombit" to demand their rights. They will continue the protest with a march to the City Municipality.

"We have no conditions, the infrastructure does not help us. The payments we receive are too low to cover the cost of living. We survive with difficulty. We have to pay electricity, water, the person who takes care of us. I don't know how we manage. We don't even have facilities to move, to go out", said the protesters.

The wife of one of the blind people asked Prime Minister Edi Rama to put himself in their position for just one hour.

"What can I live with, with 130,00 ALL? He tells me that if he dies tomorrow, I don't even have seniority. We are looking to the children to help us. We got 6%, only 1,000 ALL.

Just one hour for the prime minister to be like this. For an hour, the wife will blindfold him and put the bread in front of him, to see what life is this. It is the most intelligent layer, but they are closed", said the protester.
