Tirana Prosecution Seizes Assets of Brothers Previously Arrested for Prostitution

Tirana Prosecution seized the assets of two brothers Mario and Andi Roshi accused for the the criminal offense of "Laundering the proceeds of criminal offence or criminal activity," as stipulated in Article 287 of the Criminal Code.

Both brothers resulted that were apprehended in flagrante delicto years ago. Tirana District Court by decision no 1512, dated 14.09.2020, has imposed "Remand in Custody" against them for "Maintaining premises for prostitution."

Acting as administrators of the massage centers, they recruited women under the pretext of masseuses, but coerced them into providing sexual services in exchange of payment.

The investigations revealed that citizen M.R. and his family members hold substantial sums of money at second-tier banks’accounts, registered in both their names and the names of their relatives. These funds are suspected to have derived from his criminal activities.

Based on the investigation conducted thus far, the criteria for imposing preventive seizure of assets belonging to citizens M.R., K.R., A.R., and K.R. have been met. There are sufficient indications and evidence for reasonable suspicion that citizen M.R., in complicity with his brother, A.R., has committed the criminal offense of " Laundering the proceeds of criminal offence or criminal activity," as stipulated in Article 287, second paragraph, of the Criminal Code. Additionally, his father and his spouse are suspected to be involved in this scheme as well.

Due to investigations, there is reasonable suspicion that citizen M.R. and his family members have invested suspected money from their illicit operation of premises for prostitution, for which citizen M.R. has been previously convicted, into the acquisition of movable and real estate as a form of laundering the proceeds of the criminal offence.

Therefore, the prosecution based on Article 274 of the Criminal Procedure Code, has sought implementation of the security measure "Preventive seizure" against the bank accounts of citizens M.R., K.R., K.R., and A.R. and the seizure of the following assets:
