The Deputy Prime Minister and the Minister of Infrastructure, Belinda Balluku and the Mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj inspected the works at the project site for the construction of the new railway line Tirana - Rinas - Durrës, while within Tirana, where there will be three stations. Balluku and Veliaj shared the good news that this project is expected to be completed in 2024. 

The Minister of Infrastructure, Belinda Balluku said: "This is an electric train, which will have a speed from this point to Durres of 120 km/h, while from this point to Tirana it will vary from 50-80 km/h h; so it will be at a moderate speed, since it will enter the city. It should be borne in mind that it is not Tirana, within the city, for the exchange of goods. Of course, there are other platforms, such as the Vora platform or even other places, where there will also be intersections with other parts of the railway, such as the railway from Vora to Han i Hoti. This railway is very important because it connects Tirana with Durrës, but not only with the city of Durres where the most important waterfront of the Balkans and the Yacht Port will be built, but it will also connect Tirana with the new port of Durres built in Porto Romano, through the junction of Sukthi. This is an engineering work for all of Albania to be proud of. But, like all good things, it starts from Tirana." 

"We are at the Kamza Bend, where the municipality and the ministry share a property, share two projects, but one success story. I did not think that we would reach this day, but the fact that the trucks have done an extraordinary job from Durrës to the gates of Tirana is really impressive. We in Tirana will not continue with all five of these platforms and tracks, but only one electric train track. We will have three more stations, at 'Josif Pashko', at 'Jordan Misja' and at the end of New Boulevard, or as they are called 'city stations'. For all those who have a concern about whether there will be goods, I assure them that no, there will not be goods", explained Veliaj. 

Mayor Veliaj added that when the government and the Municipality come together, the result is these good works that are done for the city. When I listen to the debates, no, what do we need the municipality for, what do we need the government for, I say that we need the municipality to be an ally with the government. Together we do things that are impossible for us alone. The call for all municipalities is to find as much help, cooperation and support from the government as possible. When I think that Durrës will be done in 22 minutes and the airport in 12 minutes," said Veliaj. 

The project aims to develop rail transport between Durrës and Tirana, improving infrastructure and rail operations, guaranteeing the safety of movement, as well as building a new rail link with Rinas airport, which is the country's only international airport.
