Tirana’s Great Ring Road Near Completion

Deputy Prime Minister, as well as Minister of Infrastructure, Belinda Balluku inspects on Wednesday the implementation of the project for the construction of lot 7 of the Great Ring of Tirana, where the laying of the asphalt layer has started.

With a length of nearly 2 kilometers, lot 7 is expected to be ready in a few days, where after the completion of the asphalt layers work will continue on road signs.

The Deputy Prime Minister, accompanied by together the director of the Albanian Road Authority, Gentian Gjyli, closely followed the progress of the works at this site.

"This process is progressing quickly, it will not take us much time to complete all the asphalt layers, meanwhile we are continuing with other elements such as the installation of anti-noise barriers in this road section," explained the head of ARRSH.

“For the realization of the project in this lot there were some complexities, starting with the expropriation process because many of the housing units were without documents, there was also a large presence of power transmission lines and the electricity distribution network which were relocated through the intervention of OST and OSHEE,” noted Gjyli.

On the other hand, Deputy Prime Minister Belinda Balluku emphasized that the pace of work, in lot 7, but also in other lots, is high to guarantee that the road will be accessible to vehicles at the end of this year.

"It is important that all the lots are ready for vehicle access, having completed the part of the road signs, noise barriers, and everything else that is necessary. There will undoubtedly be small details left which we will continue to fill in, but all of this part of the big package should be completed by December 31st for this whole ring to be completed, given that we've had good progress also in the part of the "Pallati me Shigjeta" area," underlined Balluku.
