Two Albanians Busted with 54 Kg of Drugs in Greece
54 kilos of marijuana that were being transported from Albania to Greece, have been caught in Thessaloniki.
For the quantity of drugsz the 49-year-old driver of the vehicle and the 58-year-old van driver, both Albanians, were arrested.
During checks inside the vehicle, the officers found 4 plastic canisters containing 20 packages of 20 kg 497 grams of marijuana, while in a van they found and seized 7 plastic canisters containing 32 packages of 33 kg 690 grams of marijuana.
Greek police also searched the 49-year-old's apartment in the Sikeon area, where they found and seized about 259 grams of cocaine, 2350 euros, 8 mobile phones, 1 motorcycle, 143 grams of an undetermined substance, 3 electronic scales and 15 pharmaceutical packages, etc.
Investigation showed that the 58-year-old had the role of drug trafficking from Albania to Greece, while the 49-year-old had the role of receiving, storing and distributing drugs in Greece.
From the verification, the 58-year-old Albanian turns out to be a wanted person in Greece, sentenced to 5 years in prison and a 10,000 euro fine for drug issues.
Since the beginning of the year, the Greek police have seized about 1.4 tons of marijuana, which is suspected to have come from Albania.
