US Embassy to Tirana has congratulated Bajram Begaj on his election as President of Albania. 

The US diplomatic headquarters writes that Begaj contributed significantly to the cooperation with the US during his time as Chief of General Staff. The US demands that Begaj continue the same cooperation in his new position as President. 

"The Embassy of the United States of America congratulates Bajram Begaj on his election as the next President of Albania. As Chief of General Staff, he contributed significantly to defense cooperation between the United States and Albania. We look forward to continuing to work with him in his new role and further strengthening the partnership between our countries", declared the US embassy. 

The European Union's Foreign Minister Josef Borrell has congratulated Bajram Begaj on his election as new President with 78 votes in favor. 

In a post on Twitter, Borrell writes: "Congratulations to Bajram Begaj on his election as the next President of Albania. We look forward to working together for a secure and solid EU-Albania relationship, as members of the European family".
