USAID Supports Competitiveness in Agriculture

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) is supporting the improvement of competitiveness in agriculture, as an important step for the development of the sector in the international market.

As part of the "Global Week of Entrepreneurship", coordinated by Start Up Albania, USAID in cooperation with the Agricultural University of Tirana, held an open discussion on the premises of the University, with students and line actors on how agribusiness can progress in Albanian and international market.

The discussion during this meeting brought together students, agribusinesses, and entrepreneurs, who discussed EU standards, new technologies, and the potential of agricultural products such as olive oil, wines, and aromatic medicinal plants.

USAID, through its project in support of agriculture, is helping Albanian products adapt to the demands of the EU market. It will also help Albania adapt to EU requirements.

"Together with Albanian producers, we can further increase the quality of Albania's agriculture and we can bring Albania one step closer to EU integration," emphasized Dina Karic, head of the USAID project, "Compete Together".

The meeting continued with inspiring success stories from young entrepreneurs who have dedicated themselves to agriculture, the presentation of new ideas in the agricultural sector, and the results of the "Mentimeter" questionnaire on high-quality Albanian agro-food products, which was developed during the "Week Global Entrepreneurship".
