Vlora Airport to Be Ready in 2025; Balluku

In the annual analysis, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, Belinda Balluku, said that Rinasi has stated that the first flights from the international airport of Vlora are expected to start in the spring of 2025.

Balluku said that investments and human resources are among the main challenges for civil aviation.

"Civil Aviation, we have managed to design a safe future that has exceeded our expectations. We follow with pleasure an extraordinary development. Rinas has managed to process 7 million passengers, a challenge that requires further investments, which are being made is the case of the runway for transoceanic flights.

On the other hand, we expect the international airport of Vlora, which is at 32% of the total works. All the most important parts, which carry the heaviest part of the construction, have gone well. At the end of 2024, we hand over the airport in order to start "shadow" operations to validate all work processes. Hopefully, in the spring of 2025, we will have the first flights from Vlora airport, it is not seasonal, but international. We are sure that with the new railway and road network, Albanians will have the right to choose, choosing the schedule but also the price of the ticket.

We had a long process for the southern airport, there were many changes in the area, we had to look at all our plans. Tourism is developing everywhere, Tirana is full, we have decided that the southern airport will be located in the Gjirokastra area, but also without creating any concerns. At the end of the documentation, the international competition for the southern airport will be announced within 2024.

Civil Aviation has another challenge, that of human resources. Today we have all the human resources in Tirana, we are looking to have similar capacities in Vlora. We have started work with Albcontrol to increase the first capacities at Vlora airport." she said.
