After Russian President Vladimir Putin's statement, the reaction of the "Wagner" group was immediate. 

In a Telegram message, Yevgeny Progozin's organization made it clear to the Russian president that he "made the wrong choice" and announced developments in the country's presidential race. 

"Putin made the wrong choice. Worse for him. Soon we will have a new president", says the message of "Wagner". 

President Vladimir Putin today described Wagner mercenary company leader Yevgeny Prigozhin's "armed rebellion" against the Russian military hierarchy as a "deadly threat", speaking of the risk of "civil war" in Russia. 

In a combative tone, the head of the Kremlin addressed the media without naming him, he referred to the "traitors" of the Russian nation, declaring that they will be held accountable. 

"This is a stab in the back for our country and our people," Putin said. "What we are dealing with is nothing less than treason. Betrayal due to excessive ambitions and personal interests," he added, indirectly but clearly referring to Mr. Prigozhin. Earlier, the founder of the mercenary company announced that he is at the Russian army's general headquarters in Rostov, a nerve center of operations in Ukraine, and that his forces control various military installations. 

"We are at the headquarters, it's 7:30 a.m.," Yevgeny Prigozhin said in a video he uploaded to Telegram. Rostov's military facilities are under our control, including the airport. 

A few hours after Yevgeny Prigozhin's statements, President Putin admitted that the situation is currently "difficult" in Rostov. After the uprising, Russia's attorney general's office announced it was investigating an "armed rebellion" against Prigozhin and his 25,000 fighters. He accused the regular army of "bombarding" his forces. The authorities announced that security measures had been strengthened in Moscow, where an "anti-terrorist operation regime" was established, as a result of Prigozhin's threat via Telegram that "we will continue, we will go to the end" and that we will "destroy anyone who hinders".
