An alarming situation is unfolding in Himara, southern Albania, where a fast-moving wildfire has engulfed hills near residential areas, threatening homes, businesses and tourist facilities.

Strong winds are fueling the flames and accelerating the spread of the fire, making conditions increasingly difficult for emergency crews on the ground.

Authorities have begun evacuating residents from areas at risk, while tourists staying at nearby hotels are also being evacuated as a precaution.

Some residents have moved toward the seafront in an effort to escape the thick smoke and flames that have created chaotic conditions across parts of the coastal city.

Firefighters remain on the ground, working to contain the advancing flames and protect homes and other structures located near the fire fronts.

Additional firefighting vehicles from neighboring municipalities have been dispatched to Himara to support local emergency crews. Operations are being carried out under extremely challenging conditions because of the difficult terrain, strong winds and the rapid spread of the blaze.

The greatest concern remains the possibility that the fire could advance further into populated areas. Residents have called for assistance as emergency teams continue their efforts to bring the wildfire under control and ensure the safety of both residents and tourists.
