Wiz Air Pilot Academy Ramps Up Cadet Recruitment Drive
Wizz Air, Europe’s fastest growing and most environmentally sustainable airline globally , today announces that it is ramping up recruitment for its Pilot Academy, a market-leading training programme for highly motivated candidates to obtain their Commercial Pilot License. Since its launch in 2017, over 100 candidates have successfully graduated from the programme and are now working at Wizz Air as Pilots. Check the video Wizz Air Pilot Academy - YouTube to learn more about the program.
The Wizz Air Pilot Academy Programme provides a unique, simple, and more financially accessible path to becoming a commercial pilot at Wizz Air. The training programme, which accepts applications from candidates with little to no experience, takes 18 months to complete and is available at both Trener Flight Academy in Hungary and Egnatia Aviation in Greece.
The integrated ATPL programme begins with Ab-Initio training where cadets will gain the theoretical knowledge and skills needed to become a Pilot. Cadets who successfully graduate will progress to Advanced Training, which includes a five-week transition course for the Airbus A320 operations. Following this, cadets will undergo Wizz Air specific airline training, before becoming a fully-fledged First Officer with the airline.
Compared to other Airline programmes, the course offers a market leading tuition fee of €61,460. Cadets are only required to pay €13,950 before the course and the remaining fee is prepaid by the airline if Cadets meet the standard required following the fifth month of training. Cadets will pay the remaining fee in instalments once they receive a full salary as a First Officer at Wizz Air.
Wizz Air has also reduced the Pilot Academy recruitment fee to €85 across all of its flight schools, down from €110 at Trener Flight Academy and €148 at Egnatia Aviation, to make it more financially accessible for candidates to apply.
Cadets joining Wizz Air through the Pilot Academy Programme will have the opportunity to operate the airline’s constantly growing fleet of young, ultramodern, and sustainable Airbus aircraft on over 1100 routes to almost 200 destinations in 50+ countries. The recruitment drive for new cadets supports Wizz Air’s ambitious plans to more than triple the size of its fleet by 2030 which will see the airline hire up to 4,600 new pilots.
Ambitious aspiring pilots who want to learn more about the programme can join Wizz Air’s virtual Open Day on 12th December 2022 at 17:00 (CEST) to register, click here.

Attila Tóvári, Head of ATO training at Wizz Air said: “We are pleased to be recruiting for thousands of new pilot positions at an exciting time of continued growth for Wizz Air. The Wizz Air Pilot Academy offers aspiring pilots high quality training and development, industry leading facilities and deferred payment methods to help make their dream of becoming a pilot, a reality. Once graduated, we are proud to offer our pilots excellent opportunities for career growth, a competitive salary, and an attractive compensation and benefits package. We look forward to meeting the next generation of Wizz Air pilots at our upcoming Open Days as we ramp up our recruitment efforts for hundreds of new cadets.”
