‘Feti Fanaj’ School Inaugurated in Petrele

The Mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj and the Minister of Education, Evis Kushi inaugurated the first school out of 10 schools that will be opened this year in Tirana.

It is about the new school in Mangull of Petrela, which will be named after "Feti Fanaj", the former General Director of Public Buildings in the Municipality of Tirana who lost his life from Covid 19 a year ago.

"We will open 10 new schools and 2 kindergartens. In 101 years as the capital of Albania, we have not had a year where more schools and kindergartens have been opened than in 2021. This school is the first of a series of schools that will be opened this year. It is something fantastic, so I cannot wait for all of us to enjoy all the new schools and finally say goodbye to the two-shift teaching and the difficult conditions we had in Albanian education", underlined Veliaj.

The mayor also clarified the meaning of the name of the newest school in the capital, which will welcome 240 students. He added that the service and quality of works are the same in schools in the center of Tirana, as well as in its suburbs.

"Fetiu lived every day as if it were his last day, with dedication as if it were his last chance to do good," he said. "For us, there is no center and suburb. This is the Republic of Albania. As long as we have the power and trust of the people in every corner where we have the opportunity to serve, we will serve with dignity and with the same quality ", declared Veliaj.

The Minister of Education, Evis Kushi praised the Municipality of Tirana for the importance it has given to education in the country with the construction of new schools with modern and contemporary conditions. "I want to thank very much the Municipality of Tirana and the mayor because they pay special attention to education and school infrastructure," said Kushi.
