Author Gianni Palagonia and his translator Ajsela Koka discussing about his book at COD presentation

‘The Eagle and the Octopus’ Presented

The Center for Openness and Dialogue, located in the Prime Ministry's Library, recently hosted the book promotion event for "Eagle and Octopus," authored by Italian writer Gianni Palagonia in collaboration with the "Dritan" publishing house.

Gianni Palagonia, renowned for his trilogy focusing on the mafia, was present at the event to discuss the latest novel that concludes this thematic cycle. "Eagle and Octopus" delves into the intense clash between law enforcement agencies and the Italian and Albanian mafia.

The narrative intricately details the story of an Italian police officer dispatched on a mission to Albania to assess the dynamics between criminal organizations from both countries. His experiences in Albania, initially intended for a different purpose, leave him captivated by the country's natural beauty. However, he is taken aback by the chaotic daily traffic, rampant construction, and massive open-sky building projects.

During the book promotion, the enduring connection between Albania and Italy was highlighted, particularly in combating drug trafficking, as well as the theme of love bridging the Adriatic shores.

Gianni Palagonia is a pseudonym used by a real police officer who conceals his identity to safeguard himself and his family. With a background in investigative sectors, he has amassed significant experience in conducting major operations against the mafia, organized crime, and domestic terrorism.

Palagonia's literary works serve as a study on moral values, self-sacrifice, and idealism, portraying individuals dedicated to eradicating deep-rooted societal evils.
