'We Will Die Here' Ballshi Oilmen Warn Govt
Ballsh oil workers declared this Tuesday that they will die in hunger strike unless a solution is provided for their 20 unpaid wages and their request for resuming of work.
The hunger strike of Ballsh oil workers started on Monday after they felt neglected by the Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy, despite going up to Tirana to meet with the Minister. They assure their cause will continue and they won't give up until their demands are fulfilled.
"If our conditions are not met, we will die here. We have no way to return home empty-handed. What are we going to bring to the children? They want to eat," said one of the protesters.
On Tuesday, the oil workers after gathering in front of the Ballsh Refinery decided to escalate their actions, entering in this way in a hunger strike, which is the second they hunger strike of Ballsh oil workers after that of February 2020. There are 10 oil workers in the current hunger strike.
