1-year-old From Gaza Taking Medical Care to Albania, Family Accommodated at Refugee Center
A 1-year-old child from Gaza, arrived to Albania for medical care, as a medical evacuation took place last evening.
The World Health Organization informed that the child is currently receiving medical care at the Mother Theresa University Hospital, while his father, brother, and sister have been accommodated at the refugee center in Babrru, Tirana.
"A big thank you to the Prime Minister Edi Rama and the Government of Albania for facilitating this humanitarian effort. Gratitude to Albana Kociu Minister of Health and Social Protection, Skender Brataj Head of the National Center for Medical Emergencies, Haki Çako, General Director of the National Civil Protection Agency, and officials of the Ministry of Interior, for their essential contributions.
WHO together with partners supports coordination and scaling of a standard, transparent medevac mechanism. Gazmend Bejtja, Officer in Charge of WHO CO Albania, was also present at the airport, alongside other officials, to welcome the family," said WHO.
According to it, Albania’s commitment to supporting those in need is an important example of solidarity. With many patients from Gaza still requiring urgent medical care, coordinated international efforts remain crucial
