15 Arrested in Police OP Against Illegal Migrants' Smuggling

An extensive operation in many cities has recently been developed by the State Police, which is working to execute about 19 arrest warrants issued by the Prosecutor's Office, as reported Thursday. 

Local media reported that until now, more than 15 arrest warrants have been executed. 

The operation in question is related to the strike in the field of illegal trafficking of immigrants who entered from border points mainly in Greece. 

The same sources indicate that the investigation was mainly started by the Kavaja police after a theft in a market some time ago. 

From the investigations, it turned out that the persons in question were illegal immigrants, while they were intercepted, leading to the discovery of the network of traffickers. 

As a result of this investigation, arrests have been made in Kavajë, Lezhë, Lushnje, Tirana, Sarandë, as well as in Durrës. 

In Tirana, a hotel owner was arrested, where it is suspected that he used the premises to house illegal immigrants. 

Also, 3 clandestines and one person from Kavaja were arrested in Tirana. 

Yesterday in the area of Saranda, a husband and wife owner of a hotel was arrested, while in Kavaja, more than 4 people were arrested. 

The operation is ongoing and there will be new details related to this operation that was launched by the Kavaja Police Station in cooperation with the Prosecutor's Office and the Durrës Police Directorate.
