Albania is becoming a popular year-round tourist destination. The number of foreign citizens who entered the Albanian territory in March of this year marked an annual increase of 47.1%, reaching 564,975. INSTAT published the report on the movement of citizens for March.

The data show that European citizens recorded the highest number of foreign nationals entering Albania.

Specifically, out of nearly 565,000 foreigners who visited the country, 539,683 were European citizens. 14,267 nationals were from the Americas and 5,254 nationals were from East Asia and the Pacific. Compared to March 2023, the entries of foreign citizens increased by 45.2% for personal purposes, increased by 44.7% for vacation purposes, visits to relatives, etc., and an increase of 2.1 times for business and professional purposes.

Statistics show that during the 3 months, 1,535,113 foreign citizens visited Albania, or almost 500,000 more than in the same period of 2023 when Albania was visited by 1,070,564 foreign citizens. The international media, in the articles published by them, continue to suggest Albania as one of the countries that must be visited.

The country was visited last year by 10.1 million foreigners, while the authorities in the country are optimistic that the number of foreigners who will choose Albania as a tourist destination will reach 14 million.

Due to the long coastline, Albania offers several beaches, from north to south, such as in Velipoja in Shkodra, in Shengjin in Lezha, in Durrës, Vlora, Himara, Saranda, etc. These beaches are frequented not only by Albanians but also by foreign citizens, who choose Albania as a tourist destination during the summer months. Also, Gjirokastra, Berati, Butrinti, Kruja, Tirana, Shkodra, etc., are popular destinations for historical and cultural tourism.

On the other hand, the exits of Albanian citizens from the territory of Albania during March 2024 totaled 604,102. Compared to March 2023, this indicator has increased by 30.6%. The exits of foreign citizens from the territory of Albania during March 2024 is 571,608. Compared to the same period a year ago, this indicator has increased by 50.4%.

In March 2024, the region with the highest number of foreign nationals entering Albania is the region of Europe with 539,683 citizens, followed by America and East Asia and the Pacific, respectively with 14,267 and 5,254 citizens," INSTAT estimates.
