Kosovo commemorates this Sunday the 24th anniversary of the Reçak Massacre, where over 45 innocent Albanian civilians were killed. The former head of the OSCE monitoring mission in Kosovo, Ambassador William Walker, described the Recak Massacre as a crime against humanity.

On January 15, 1999, 45 unarmed Albanians were barbarically killed and massacred in the village of Reçak.

In the early hours of the morning of January 15, Reçak woke up surrounded. According to the witnesses, around 6:30 a.m. Serbian forces with heavy artillery started bombarding the village. After the bombing stopped, Serbian forces entered the village and began raids.

The Reçak massacre horrified the world and awakened the conscience of world diplomacy by mobilizing for Kosovo. The horrors caused in the village of Reçak brought to the attention of the entire civilized world and revealed the truth about the genocidal plan of the ex-criminal Slobodan Milosevic.
After Recak, the issue of Kosovo will be at an international conference in Rambouillet and Paris, the failure of which would affect the intervention of NATO against the Serbian military forces, their departure from Kosovo and the establishment of the international administration in Kosovo.

Reçak at that time had taken place in the media and offices of the most influential countries in the world. The former Secretary of State, Madeleine Albright, had heard the news and had woken up anxious about what the next hours would bring to Kosovo.

Meanwhile, the head of the OSCE mission, William Walker, had gone to the scene of the crime very quickly and had pointed his finger at the valley of massacre, defining the crime in three words: Crime against humanity.

After the Recak Massacre, the 48-hour fighting between the KLA and the Serbian forces resumed for the recovery of the corpses. Serbia wanted to eradicate the traces of the crime, but this attempt of theirs failed. The world saw the crime.

For the first time, missionaries and diplomats of the world were horrified by the horrific scenes and barbaric massacres that the Serbian forces carried out on the Albanian civilian population.
