46 Arrested, 91 investigated for Arson in Albania

Some 137 people were identified as arson, since June until 14 of August in Albania.

Police informed that 46 people have been arrested so far, 91 others are under investigations, as Albania is suffering huge damages due to the wildfires in these hot days, while hundreds have been forced to flee homes.

The army, security forces and police and firefighters were engaged to manage the wildfires that are risking not only land but even houses and forests.

The State Police appeals to all residents not to cause fires, while livestock farmers are responsible for the lands and pastures they own or use.

"Call to all residents: do not light fires to burn agricultural waste or to clean up the territory, without notifying and taking measures with the responsible authorities.

Causing a fire, intentionally or through negligence, is a criminal offense and the State Police is working, in cooperation with residents, to identify, capture and arrest all those who cause fires," urges police.
