The Agency for Electronic Communications (AEK) officially announced today, that One Macedonia, subsidiary of 4iG Group, as the winner of 5G spectrum tender of North Macedonia. The decision paves the way for the launch of the country’s first nationwide standalone 5G network, marking a milestone in advancing secure and future-proof digital connectivity across the region.

One Macedonia was the sole participant in the tender process, which enables the company to build and operate one of the region’s most advanced and secure 5G standalone (5G SA) networks. According to a previous company announcement, One Macedonia entered into a preliminary agreement with Ericsson for strategic cooperation in the planning, design, and deployment of the new network.

The rollout of the 5G network and the launch of commercial services are scheduled to begin at the end of March 2027, with a long-term roadmap targeting full urban and transport corridor coverage by 2030 and nationwide access to high-speed internet by 2032. The project aims to deliver fast, reliable, and secure mobile connectivity that meets the needs of citizens, institutions, and businesses, while ensuring compliance with European standards and values. The new network will be designed to offer a stable, secure, and future-oriented digital infrastructure that supports innovation and long-term economic growth.
