Agron Shehaj Leaves Democratic Party as He Sees ‘No Alternative’

The Democratic Party MP, Agron Shehaj, has declared that he will no longer be part of the structures of the Democratic Party, stressing that he no longer sees it as an alternative.

Shehaj was no longer even part of the parliamentary group, as he had been expelled earlier from MP Gazment Bardhi.

In an interview, he stated that new figures should come to the DP. He further proposes building a credible alternative to a total renovation.

"This is not an alternative. None is an alternative now, not Lulzim Basha. I spoke with (Former PM) Sali Berisha and told him the same thing I am saying. There were answers that did not convince me. I have raised these concerns since the summer, a real re-establishment of DP was needed, new figures, young intellectuals should come. We had to give a solution. It could be the creation of a new party.

At this moment, there will be no new party. I am not part of the parliamentary group, I have been expelled. Gazment Bardhi expelled me. I did not join the meetings you mentioned, I preferred not to be a part. People in the opposition, people do not see hope because there is a stalemate and I do not believe that we are an alternative in the next elections. I propose that we should build a credible alternative to doing a total renovation, to doing a renovation. At the moment I have decided not to be part of the DP anymore, I do not expect it to be renewed now. We need new figures", said Shehaj.
