Albania Aims to Be Net Exporter of Energy in 2030; Balluku
The Deputy Prime Minister, at the same time Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, conducted Monday the annual analysis of the department she leads. Balluku emphasized that the goal of the Albanian government is for Albania to be a net exporter of energy in 2030, as today we are a net importer.
"Diversification of resources is the basic pillar, we have a goal that in 2030 the country will be a net exporter of energy, today we are a net importer. The first work, all the capacities that are increasing day by day and MIE has done a good job in this direction. A number of auctions have been conducted, some of them are in the final phase of energy production, where our country also benefits through the PPA scheme. Of the two photovoltaic parks, 140 megawatts exceed the country's production. In the wind auctions, 225 megawatt hours, which goes to the state portfolio.
We are in the first phase of a hybrid auction, it is an auction where the state does not place land, we define the amount we need, allowing investors to accommodate themselves in rented land, thus offering a lower price. We also have good news, we received a second support from UBIF, which is about solar panels located in the Belsh area.
The photovoltaic auction opens on January 15, and ends on July 7 with the opening of financial offers. We must state a fact, we have identified since 2022 with the start of the energy crisis, we have seen an increase in interest to invest in renewable energy.
We hear it is difficult to apply and get approved, nothing is difficult as long as the conditions are met. No one will receive an authorization if they bring credit rating 7, the lands for photovoltaic parks are credit rating 9 and 10. We cannot turn the lands into photovoltaic parks.
If the investor brings all the documents in order there is no delay. We have also given a new opportunity to investors, they can set up agrovoltaic on lands with credit ratings 7 and 8. Diversification of renewable resources is a priority. Every investor will have support, we create as few obstacles as possible, but by enforcing the law. We have had final approvals for 64 photovoltaic parks. As for wind farms, we have had 13.
We have 49 photovoltaic parks under treatment, parks of a larger size. We have 26 requests in processing for wind farms. If we were to summarize these requirements, we would see that our domestic production capacity will increase by several gigawatts," said Balluku.
