Albania Okays Contract for One Mln Pfizer Vaccines

Council of Ministers has approved the new contract with Pfizer company, which stipulates the reception of 1 million vaccine doses during 2022 and 500.000 more jabs just in case they are needed, even for the vaccination of children.

This information was revealed Wednesday by the Minister of Health and Social Protection, Ogerta Manastirliu during the visit to the rehabilitated Këmishtaj Health Center in Divjaka.

"We have just approved in the Council of Ministers the new contract with the company Pfizer for 1 million doses of vaccine during 2022 and another 500 thousand optional doses, if needed, which also includes vaccination for children.

We will continue to ensure the availability of vaccines in all health centers. We have applied more than 2.6 million doses of vaccines to date. We are still working hard to intensify vaccination coverage in the youth age group. Therefore, an appeal and even more dedication of our health team will always be needed to increase the vaccine coverage in the youth age group.

But on the other hand we must continue with the boosting doses in the age group +60 years old, especially those who have chronic diseases and are more at risk, as vaccination saves live,", noted Manastirliu.

In her visit to Këmishtaj health center, Manastirliu was accompanied by the MP of Divjaka area, Erion Braçe. She revealed that Këmishtaj new health center has been rehabilitated within the program of 300 health centers, a program that will continue with the second phase.
