Albania's Democratic Party Calls for Nationwide Protest on January 24

Albania's Democratic Party has announced a nationwide protest scheduled for January 24, party officials said.

At a leadership meeting, party chair Sali Berisha proposed that the protest be continuous, emphasizing that sustained demonstrations are the only path to pressuring the government for change. The decision follows recent incidents, including the fire at the “5 Maji” market, which Berisha attributed to real estate interests, while authorities described it as accidental.

Berisha and other party leaders highlighted the urgency of mobilizing supporters and coordinating nationwide participation, framing the protest as a key step in their political strategy to challenge the current government.
