Albanian Cocaine Trafficking Group Cracked Down by Italian Police

A cocaine trafficking gang has been dismantled by Italian police, where four Albanians and an Italian have been arrested, while another member has been declared wanted.

Italian media report that the arrested are Angjelin Lleshi, 30, Amarildo Perloshi, 33, Leonard Vishaj, 33, and Elton Beleshi, 39, all born in Albania and living in Aosta, as well as Diego Gustavo Corchia, 41 years old, born and lives in Aosta.

Meanwhile, according to Italian media, the police operation was codenamed "Illyricum", due to the name used by the group of Albanians to identify themselves.

According to Italian police investigations, Vishaj had the role of the courier in the group, while Beleshi was the wholesaler. Lleshi, Corchia and Perloshi were involved in drug processing and benefited from sales of about 15 thousand Euros per month.

Albanians have long been under investigation for narcotics trafficking. The Italian court has left the 4 Albanians in prison, while Diego Gustavo Corchia, 41, ended up under house arrest.

The investigation began in November 2020 after raids on a garage in downtown Aosta, following denunciations made by area residents.
