Albanian IGJEUM Reacts after Florina Earthquake

The Department of Seismology at the Institute of Geosciences (IGJEUM), has reacted regarding the earthquake that shook the north of Greece last night.

The tremors that were felt in Albania had their epicenter on the border between North Macedonia and Greece. According to preliminary data from IGJEUM, the epicenter was about 40 km northeast of Bilisht with a magnitude of 5.6 on the Richter scale. The intensity of the earthquake is estimated at 6 points according to the MSK-64 scale. 

"On 09/01/2022, at 22:43 (local time), the IGJEUM Seismological Monitoring Network recorded an earthquake of size M5.6 according to the Richter scale, with a focal depth of 9 km. The epicenter is located 40 km northeast of Bilisht. The intensity of the earthquake is estimated at 6 points according to the MSK-64 scale. There is no claim of damage," announced IGJEUM.
