Albanian NFA Finds Salmonella Presence in Kinder Chocolates
Albania’s National Food Authority (NFA) has found presence of the salmonella virus in some shipments of Kinder Chocolates that were meant to be brought to Albania, namely: KINDER SCHOKOBONS (all types), KINDER SCHOKOBONS all lots for packaging 125 g, KINDER SORPRESA MAXI all lots for packaging 100 g and KINDER MAXI MIX all lots for packaging 133 g.
These kinds of chocolates have been prevented from passing the border an entering Albania, while the Authority is working on removing all harmful chocolates from the market.
"Regarding the identification of some cases of poisoning by Salmonella in chocolate products in the UK, after notification by RASFF, AKU continues field monitoring and verifications and border inspection points.
AKU follows the procedure of withdrawal from the market of products that RASSF has identified. AKU notifies and advises consumers to avoid buying the following products and if they have bought not to consume the listed products:
KINDER SCHOKOBONS (all types)
KINDER SCHOKOBONS all lots for packaging 125 g
KINDER SORPRESA MAXI all lots for packaging 100 g
KINDER MAXI MIX all lots for packaging 133 g
At a border inspection point, a subject for import of Kinder chocolate products was presented and based on the documentary and identity control, it resulted that the consignment had a product, for which the manufacturing company has announced that it should be withdrawn from the market.
The National Food Authority has proceeded with the refusal at the border for the return load to the country of origin.
We assure customers that regional directorates and field inspection bodies and border inspection posts are monitoring and monitoring the situation and any developments will be notified to customers", announced the NFA.
Earlier, some Kinder Surprise chocolate eggs have been recalled over a link to 63 UK cases of salmonella mostly in young children.
The Food Standards Agency (FSA) said all the eggs affected had been made in the same factory in Belgium.
It advised people not to eat 20g or three-pack eggs with best before dates between 11 July and 7 October 2022.
Chocolate-maker Ferrero said none of its Kinder products released for sale had tested positive for salmonella, as reported on April 5.
