Albanian Sentenced to Nearly Three Years in Prison by UK for Drugs

A 25-year-old Albanian man has been sentenced to 34 months in prison after suspicions he was growing cannabis in a farm in Ipswich in Britain, with plants worth up to GBP 75,000.

Mark Klizman was stopped by police while driving an uninsured car on the A12 in Capel St Mary in June this year and appeared nervous.

He was talking on the phone when he was stopped by the police and shouted something in Albanian.

After being detained, the officers looked on his phone, and saw a video of someone carrying a large amount of cannabis.

A location tag on the video led police to a property in Norwich Road, Ipswich, and when police entered the premises, they found 52 cannabis plants growing in the basement.

Room in question was equipped with 50 lighting units, four fan units and a filtration unit, and in another room police found 97 pots of recently harvested plants.

On its part, the court said the 52 plants had an estimated potential value of up to £27,000 and the 97 plants harvested had an estimated potential value of up to £48,000.

Klizman pleaded guilty to producing cannabis on June 5 this year and possessing cannabis on the same date.
