Becchetti to Appeal Italy-Albania Migration Deal to EU Court

Italian media report that Italian entrepreneur Francesco Becchetti, owner of Agon Chanel TV, will appeal the agreement on immigrants between Italy and Albania to the European Court.

The Italian entrepreneur, who has won an international trial against the Albanian government for the persecution of him and the closure of the Albanian television Agon Channel with a compensation of 135 million euros from the government of Edi Rama, has informed the Italian government about the seizure of the same value for the amounts that Italy intends to pay Albania with the migrant deal.

The entrepreneur Becchetti has informed that he will submit an appeal to the Court of Justice of the European Union. Stating that the rate "is a very serious act of arbitrariness, against the person and illegal", Becchetti demands the sequestration of the entire amount "up to 135 million euros", which the Italian government has undertaken to pay to Albania on the basis of protocol of November 6, 2023.

Through his lawyers, in November 2023, the Italian entrepreneur informed the Presidency of the Council of Ministers and all the ministries of the Italian government with a writ of seizure, in order to seize all the sums that the Italian government has undertaken to pay to the government Albanian based on the protocol dated November 6, 2023.
