Former Prime Minister Sali Berisha paid tribute to Azem Hajdari's memorial on the 25th anniversary of his murder. 

Berisha declared that his execution in front of the Democratic Party headquarters is the most macabre assassination. 

"On the 25th anniversary of his execution by the criminal gang. No one has done as much as Azem Hajrari together with the students for the freedom of Albanians. He is one of the most remarkable figures in the history of freedom of this nation. 

Today it is not easy to imagine December of '90 when he stood up with a group of students against the dictatorship. He became an epic leader with his courage, who brought the dictatorship to its knees in no time. His execution in front of the DP headquarters is the most serious state murder in the history of Albanians, the most macabre assassination. 

Even today, after 25 years, Azem Hajdari is alive and immortal in the hearts of those who lived through the dictatorship and saw him as their saviour. He is immortal and eternal on the altar of freedom of the Albanian nation. 

Azem Hajdari is a living prayer for all Albanians to stand up today and overthrow the dictatorship of drugs, theft, the direct successor of one of the most ruthless executioners of the nation in Albania, Edi Rama," Berisha said.
