Berlin Process Summit Officially Kicks Off in Tirana
Leaders of the European Union and the Western Balkans were received by Prime Minister Edi Rama at the premises of the Prime Minister's Office, to continue the Berlin Process Summit.
After the reception ceremony, the leaders went to the Pyramid, where the work of the Summit will take place. There are two main elements to be analyzed at the Berlin Process Leaders' Forum: the political element and the economic one.
One of the pillars of the Berlin Process established in 2014 is good neighborliness in the region. And in this context, the tense situation after September 24 in the North of Kosovo is a topic to be discussed all the more since the two architects of the Franco-German plan will be in Tirana tomorrow.
On May 31, 2023, from the GLOBSEC forum in Bratislava, the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, announced that the EU is working on a "Neë Plan Groëth" (Growth Plan) for the countries of the region, but did not provide figures on what this plan consists of. in financial terms.
A diplomatic source in the European Commission told Top Channel journalist Muhamed Veliu that "probably from the Berlin Process Summit, President Ursula von der Leyen will speak in concrete terms about the so-called "Growth Plan".
It is about a package of 28 billion euros:
– 2 billion for the Growth Plan
– 26 billion through IPA funds.
This package will be complementary to the one so far with 30 billion euros from the "Economic and Investment Plan" launched in 2020, of which 16 billion have been invested in various projects so far.
